Number 1 Best/Worst Places to visit

The number 1 best place to visit in the United States according to myself and TripAdvisor, is San Francisco, California. Some of the things San Francisco has to offer includes exploring Fisherman's Wharf and the world renown Aquarium of the Bay, ride a cable car, stroll around the Presidio, walk the Golden Gate Bridge, and by night hit some of the best clubs on the West Coast. The best time to visit San Francisco is from September to November. This season offers warm temperatures and fewer crowds. Spring is another good time but a colder breeze is more present. When I visited San Francisco my favorite experience was touring Alcatraz prison, the prison is located on its own island and has a lot of history. Also, driving the mountains surrounding San Francisco Bay to get a better view of the Golden Gate Bridge and City was a great experience.

Number 1 worst place to visit in the United States is Detroit, Michigan. Detroit used to be the fourth largest city in the United States, it is now the 10th largest. The city lost a large majority of its population do to having one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. There are plenty of abandoned buildings, abandoned houses, and abandoned factories throughout the city, and also has a large amount of urban decay. Crime in the city is an issue as it has been for many years. I have never personally been to Detroit, Michigan, but from what others have said about its danger, I may not have a desire to visit the city. Although, I am sure just like any other large city, Detroit is going to have its dangerous sides and safe sides.

Number 2 Best/Worst places to visit

Coming in at the number two best spot to visit in the United States according to myself, is Cocoa Beach, Florida. Cocoa Beach has been called the quintessential beach town, and offers endless ways to enjoy recreation and leisure. There is plenty of things to do and see around Cocoa Beach, there is deep sea fishing or para sailing, or one can visit attractions like Kennedy Space Center and Brevard Zoo to name a few. Cocoa Beach is also only a short distance from Orlando, Florida and Walt Disney Parks. Having been to Florida many times, Cocoa Beach is my personal favorite. The city offers great dining spots, and a nice clean beach.

The Number 2 worst place to visit in the U.S. according to myself is Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore is a great place to live, if you love rampant drug use, violent crime and cops on every corner. The biggest problem for Baltimore is that for many years the streets have been flooded with hard drugs and dangerous people who follow those drugs.  Unlike other big cities where heroin use had declined steadily, in Baltimore it remains prevalent. In 2009 there were more than 200 deaths by heroin overdose. Having been in Baltimore years ago, the city seemed nice, but the increase of drug activity has taken its toll on it.

Number 3 Best/Worst places to vist

The 3rd best place to visit in the U.S. that I chose is San Diego, CA. The Consistently sunny weather is what draws visitors to San Diego throughout the year, that and the great cuisine, thriving nightlife and one of the best zoos in the country. Also to add to the list, San Diego serves as the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet and has many activities that revolve around the sea. A few popular attractions in San Diego include Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, and Mission Beach. Having been to San Diego I can safely say it is my top 5 favorite cities I've been to in the United States. The city is very clean and industrialized, and has great restaurants that offer great sea food. I would definitely travel back to San Diego again for the weather and spectacular views it has to offer.

The number 3 worst place I chose was St. Louis, Missouri. One of the biggest reasons people do not visit the city is because of their crime rate. When researching the lists of cities with the most violent crimes in America, St. Louis is consistently in the top-three. The city also made the decision to cut the amount of police officers in response to the terrible crime rate. They community places no value on cultural or aesthetic aspects, which is why the city is decrepit and full of vacant lots. Having traveled to St. Louis some time ago, my experience was that of a different St. Louis. Back then I enjoyed visiting the St. Louis Arch, and the museums they have. Nowadays I would not travel back because the rep it has gained for being dangerous and somewhat abandoned.

Number 4 Best/Worst places to visit

Number 4 best place to visit in the U.S. is Washington D.C. Washington D.C. is a host of renowned museums like the Smithsonian museums, the Natural History Museum, and Holocaust Museum to name just a few. They also have an array of memorials and monuments that are very interesting, like the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials, and also the Washington Monument. D.C. has a very respectable dining scene, and is a very easy destination to get by on a budget because of the many free attractions the city offers. The three times I have traveled to Washington D.C. I have always had a great time. There is plenty to do between all the monuments and museums, but also walking the streets of the city seeing the many different restaurants and shops.
 Capitol Building

Number 4 worst place to visit in the U.S. is the Wetlands of Mississippi. The wetlands were used during World War Two as a practice bombing range, vacation-goers today can still find un-exploded and highly unstable ordinance submerged in shallow bogs. And is also the home of many different snakes, poisonous toads, scorpions, tarantulas, and dog-sized rats. This is a place that I would not want to visit because of the poisonous creatures and dog-sized rats. If i were looking for a swamp to go hiking or camping I would look elsewhere.

Number 6 Best/Worst places to visit

Castle Geyser PanoramaComing in at number 6 best place to visit is Yellowstone National Park. The variety of many different activities and sites available at Yellowstone make it a great destination for a wide variety of people. Between hiking the trails and swimming in the lakes in the summer, or cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and the many other activities, it makes for a great time. Some popular sites to visit include Old Faithful, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, and Yellowstone Lake to name just a few. This is a destination I would love to visit being an avid snowmobile rider, particular spots in the park receive a lot of snow accumulation.

The number 6 worst place to visit in the U.S. according to myself and U.S. News travel is Los Angeles, California. Los Angeles is notorious for its smog, a haze produced by millions of vehicles operating in a low basin. It is also a very expensive place to visit, the people who live there have the reputation as struggling actors, models and rock stars who will do anything to get ahead. Having been to Los Angeles, California, I can say that their are a lot of interesting things to do and see, but the traffic and prices of things get real tiring.

Number 5 Best/Worst places to visit

Coming in at the fifth best place to visit in the U.S. is San Francisco, CA. Often described as Los Angeles' more refined northern cousin, cool and compact San Francisco combines the big city buzz and melds it with a sense of small-town charm. Some touristy areas to visit include Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bride, and Alcatraz(pictured below).

The fifth worst place in the U.S. according to Gadling.com is Salt Lake City, Utah. This comes in at number 5 mostly because the local culture is not too supportive of those who like to imbibe. A few years ago a law was made that limited the number of bars on each city block to two. Also, not as many things to see in Utah is another reason Salt Lake City doesn't top many travel bucket lists.

Number 7 Best/Worst places to visit.

Eastern Sierra, California.
Eastern Sierra, California comes in at number 7 best places to visit in the U.S. for its overlooked flank of the Sierra Nevada range, along with scenic Gold Rush ghost towns. They also have Mono Lake's calcified tufa towers as shown in the image below, and a chance to follow the scenic US Route 395. According to U.S. News travel, and myself, Eastern Sierra, California deserves to be number 7 and is somewhere I would love to visit someday. Between the Gold Rush ghost towns, and calcified tufa towers, and famous Route 395, it seems their is plenty to see.

July 24th

Daytona Beach, Florida.
Daytona Beach, Florida comes in at number 7 worst place in the U.S. to visit because of the certain beach rules that exist. On parts of Daytona Beach, automobiles are allowed to park in the sand during certain times of the day, turning some parts of the beach into a large parking lot. Having been to Daytona Beach, Florida I can say from experience that it is a busy city and beach. It isn't always bad to be on a busy beach but I found  it hard to relax when cars were driving past where I was laying.
